AWE at CMC Art and Music Event

Please join us for an exciting art and music event on Friday December 6, 1-3pm! Artwork by Art With Elders (AWE) participants will be on display at the Community Music Center (CMC) Concert Hall and and 552 Capp St. building. Coro Solera, the CMC Solera Singers of Mission Neighborhood Center will perform a set of their favorite songs and light refreshments will be served. Come down and enjoy this special afternoon with us! Accessible, free of charge and open to the public.

Featured artists come from arts workshops at the Mission Neighborhood Centers, Inc., Curry Senior Center, Community Living Campaign, Stonestown YMCA, Openhouse, Crescent Park, Dr. George W. Davis Senior Center, and AWE Open Studios.

In addition to art on display in the Concert Hall, an exhibit of music-themed art will be exhibited Nov. 20-Dec. 20, 2024 in the newly renovated building at Community Music Center at 552 Capp St., next door neighbor to their original building at 544 Capp St.

Community Music Center (CMC), founded in 1921, is a nonprofit music school and performance space with branches in the Mission and Richmond Districts. Community Music Center makes high quality music accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, regardless of financial means.

AWE at Ruth’s Table – Pride Exhibit 2024 – Art With Elders (AWE) is excited to celebrate Pride Month with Ruth’s Table. This exhibit features art created by AWE participants taking classes at Openhouse Bob Ross LGBTQ Senior Center and at Laguna Honda Hospital. Art With Elders (AWE) in partnership with the San Francisco Arts Commission (SFAC) Art in City Hall program are proud to present The Power of Creativity and Community, an exhibition that showcases over 90 original paintings and drawings made by seniors participating in the AWE program from forty programming sites and community partners located throughout San Francisco and the Bay Area.

This exhibit, hosted by STAGES at Genentech, features artworks created by seniors participating in the Art With Elders (AWE) program. The exhibit is on display in building 35, July 18-August 8. The exhibiting artists represent a diverse cross section of older adults from around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Strengthening Ties Across Generations (STAGES)
The STAGES group promotes an age-friendly work environment at Genentech. It provides opportunities for experienced employees to network, mentor new employees, receive information and resources for changing lifestyles (such as retirement planning) and participate in collaborative diversity events and programs. STAGES is active in South San Francisco.

San Francisco Cares: Inclusivity and Accessibility in Senior Arts Programming

AWE Senior Bridge Online Exhibit
The themes of the AWE Senior Bridge Project Exhibit are Mental Health and Social Connection. As a part of the project, AWE polled our artists to get feedback about topics of importance in their lives. Mental Health and Social Connection rose to the top of the list. This exhibit features artwork created in AWE classes in response to these themes. AWE would like to thank the California Arts Council for funding this project.

Cole Valley Fair – Cole St between Carl & Grattan and Parnassus Ave between Shrader & Belvedere, featuring fine arts and crafts, food booths, live music, a display of historic Cole Valley photographs, a full block of vintage automobiles owned by neighborhood residents, informative booths run by City departments and local NFP organizations, and many events for children. In addition to our AWE booth featuring art, posters, cards, and books for sale, we will host an artmaking workshop for visitors to create their own artwork.
