Classes
Weekly classes are the core of what we do. In small groups of 10-12 students, elders are able to learn new skills, explore new ideas, and build positive relationships with their peers. For more information about our Classes, please visit the Classes page.
Annual Exhibit
Each year, AWE curates an exhibit showcasing 100 of the most outstanding student artworks. The exhibit is juried by a panel of professionals, and is presented at the Annual Exhibit Opening & Artist Reception in October. For more information about our Annual Exhibit, please visit the Annual Exhibit Page.
Traveling Exhibits
After each Annual Exhibit Opening Event, we share the extraordinary talents of AWE artists with the wider community as the exhibit travels to venues in the S.F. Bay Area. For more information about the Traveling Exhibit please visit our Traveling Exhibit Page.
The AWE Model
AWE engages older adults living in senior communities in weekly fine arts classes taught by professional artists and shares their work and life experience through public exhibits.
Classes and workshops, on-site and online bring people with shared interests together, building real and meaningful community, and giving participants opportunities to continue to grow cognitively and express themselves creatively.
Exhibits showcase senior artists to the larger community, challenging stereotypes about aging. Artwork is displayed in venues across the Bay Area and presented in our online gallery throughout the year.
